The Fruit of the Womb is a Reward – A Poem and Prayer for My Sons

“It’s a Boy!” the doctor exclaimed.

 My heart was set aflame

Four times the blessing came

And with each a mandate from heaven

Raise the boys into God-fearing men

 Fearfully and wonderfully made

On my knees for each I daily prayed

In the night heard they my serenade

For when He formed their inward parts

He put eternity in their hearts

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV)

For each a purpose, a plan He had in mind

To worship Him and to reach all of mankind

To each He gave gifts and talents of his own

To prepare their hearts, their Beloved to seek

Then they will find Him, as deep calls unto deep…

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV)

My prayer for you my darling sons:

That you would know, truly know how deeply loved you are

That you would know your worth and value – how special you are

That you would abide in Him diligently and for the rest of your lives

For God the Father gave you His only Son, His beloved Jesus Christ

To take upon Himself our sins, to die on the cross, and to rise again

Making a way for you to go to the Father through the Blood of Christ

By His grace alone through faith in Jesus our Savior, our Song

That you would grow up in the strength of The Lord

That you would have great faith and be filled with His Holy Spirit and power

That you would seek Him diligently in His Word, in worship and in prayer

That your hearts would bow down to Him, as well as your knees

That you would seek wisdom, and gain understanding

That your would have a discerning heart

That you would be prudent in all your ways

That you would be as wise as a serpent but as gentle as a dove

That you would only be strong and very courageous amidst trials, temptations, and tribulations

That you would not be discouraged because you know to Whom you belong

That you would not allow your hands to be weak in the darkest storm

For your work shall be rewarded…

Your mighty Savior holds you by your right hand

He teaches your hands to war and your fingers to fight

Oh that you would fear the Lord by hating what is evil

That you stay away and run from the seductress women

That you would find your precious wife – a virtuous woman

That you would make a covenant with your eyes to not lust at young girls like Job

That you would love your future wife as Christ loved the church – be tenderhearted like Jesus.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her” Ephesians 5:25 (NJKV)

That you would be disciplined and responsible

That you would study hard and work hard

And enjoy the fruits of your labor for it is a gift from God

That you would leave an inheritance for your grandchildren

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” Proverbs 13:22a (NKJV)

That you would stand up for justice according to His principles

“Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31: 8 & 9 (NKJV)

That you would visit the poor and pray for the sick

That you would walk with Him without compromise like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

That you would have the boldness of Paul

And a heart of worship like David

That you would be found loyal at His coming or when it is your time…

That you would redeem the time as the hour is late

That you would be sober minded and not be deceived by false prophets and teachers in the last days

That you would be faithful unto the very end like Jesus…

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:2b (NKJV)

That you would be confident in God, Jesus your Savior

That you would always know your worth, the value and gift of your life…

That you would run your race with boldness knowing God is with you and you are never alone

That you would KNOW that you CAN do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens you

That you would know that with God anything is possible…

That you would love God with ALL your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength

That you would love your neighbor as yourself

That you would always be at the right place, at the right time, and doing what pleases Him…

That you would know that life is a vapor

That you would fight the good fight of faith

And live with Him forever…

Christ in you, the HOPE of glory.

“I love you forever

I like you for always

As long as I’m living

 My baby you’ll be”

(from the book I Love You Forever by Robert Munsch)

My darling sons, I will always believe in you and the destiny of your precious life…

For He is able to finish the work he has begun in you

May you live a long, healthy, peaceful, and prosperous life filled with much love, joy, happiness, and laughter.

For you are each a gift from God – a heritage from the Lord.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3 (NKJV)
